Its been a bad day. I attempted three watercolours today and all of them ended up as disasters. Have you ever gone through such phases? Phew! Three in a row. I feel high and dry :(
I guess I was not concentrating enough or had something else at the back of my mind. Well, tomorrow is another day and I shall try again.
For now, take a look at a painting of mine from about three years ago.
Your thoughts, suggestions, comments and critiques. Thanks.

That's interesting because I'm feeling the same way! I hate those phases, hate them!! But just keep telling yourself that you can do it. I think looking at older works that were successful helps too. And don't forget that I believe in you and know you can do it. You are very talented. :)
ReplyDeleteI really like the background in this painting. It flows beautifully and I think it sets off the roses just perfect. I also really love how you've handled the leaves, how they're more suggested than anything else. And the subtle colors in the rose is great too. Glad you posted this!
Thanks Crystal. Thanks for being a constant source of encouragement and inspiration. I very badly want to get over this phase and produce something that's worth showing the world. Maybe a copy of someone else's work? Or a copy of my own work from the past. I am not sure. But what I'm sure about is that you'll get to see it tomorrow :)
ReplyDeletebeautiful monochromatic painting!
ReplyDeleteThere is nothing as 'failure' in art, Sujit..you should have posted your attempts and let the critiques come..you would have felt a lot better:)we tend to be hard on ourselves.
ReplyDeleteThese roses are lovely.I like the softness that you have achived.
i liked color here.
ReplyDeleteWONDERFUL WORK MAN!
ReplyDeleteGOOD OLD DAYS OF YOUR ART SEEM TO BE O HTEIR WAY BACK SOON.
Oh that happens all the time with ALL of us, I bet! If all we had were good days, we'd not enjoy the process of the effort in each painting but look forward only to the end result. Now would that be fair to a painter's love for the art?
ReplyDeleteWith a repertoire like yours, high and dry days should be exactly what they are meant to be - an excuse to go back to your blog and peruse! Buck up...
beautiful . Congrats
